Fresh and Easy closing in southern california

Fresh & Easy Will Close Some Stores In The San Gabriel Valley

The neighborhood market chain plans on closing these stores by April 3rd. Known for its natural and organic products, Fresh & Easy has struggled to earn profits eventually filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2013.

The chain was bought out of bankruptcy by billionaire Ron Burkle’s Yucaipa Companies. The El Segundo based company said some of the stores are not meeting certain criteria and plans on redesigning its remaining stores.

In addition to lackluster earnings, some locations such as the one in Pasadena face a lot of competition from chains like Pavilions and Trader Joes. The biggest downside to the downsizing will be hundreds of employees losing their jobs.
